3 Juveniles In Custody Following Coral Gables Carjacking
Three juveniles were taken into custody Monday night after they allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla from a couple at gunpoint in Coral Gables.

CORAL GABLES, FL — Three juveniles were taken into custody Monday night after they allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla from a couple at gunpoint.
The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. at a parking garage located at 1518 San Ignacio Avenue, according to Officer Kelly Denham of the Coral Gables Police Department. She said the three juveniles ran toward the couple as they were walking away from their car.
"One suspect pointed a handgun at them demanding the keys to their car and the male victim’s cellphone," Denham explained. "Once the suspects obtained these items they ran to the grey Toyota Corolla and fled the scene in the stolen car."

She said that the 9-1-1 call center put out an alert for the car as well as a description of the juveniles.
"Two Coral Gables Police Officers spotted the stolen vehicle in a parking lot underneath the Metrorail at Alhambra Circle and Ponce De Leon Blvd.," Denham said. "All three suspects were taken into custody without incident at 8:03 p.m. and the handgun and victim’s cellphone were recovered."

She added that all three juveniles were charged with armed robbery and grand theft of an automobile. Their names were being withheld because of their ages.
