8th Best City To Live In U.S. Nestled On FL Coast
This Florida town is not only the eighth best city to live in the U.S., but it is also the 47th best city for livability globally.
MIAMI, FL — Topping major cities, like San Francisco and Minneapolis, Miami has been named the eighth best place to live in the U.S.
The Economist Intelligence Unit released its annual Global Liveability Index 2024, which ranked its top 10 cities to reside, per CNBC. Patch has obtained a copy of the data report.
At No. 1, Honolulu excelled on the national list; but, globally, Miami secured the No. 47 spot.

With an index of 90.4 points, Miami moved eight spots down the worldwide list compared to last year.
Each city could gain a maximum of 100 points. Miami's index declined 7 points since last year.

The South Florida city is known for its pro sports, its vibrant nightlife and cuisine, and as a jumping off point to destinations like the Florida Everglades and the Keys. It hosts the headquarters for multiple corporations, including Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Burger King.
In September 2023, metro Miami-Fort Lauderdale was named by LinkedIn as the seventh best place to start a business.
The EIU report looked at stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. International cities, totaling 173, were examined for their livability.
Honolulu may be the best in the U.S., but Vienna, Austria was regarded as the world's best place to live. On the global list, New York slid into No. 70 while Los Angeles peaked at No. 58, CNBC reported.
