A bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning along the MacArthur Causeway.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning along the MacArthur Causeway, according to Miami Beach police. The driver was apparently trying to get around traffic.
Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department said Saturday that the incident happened around 1:20 a.m. along the westbound lanes of the causeway, which connects South Beach with downtown Miami.
"A vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed attempted to bypass traffic as all the lanes were occupied," Rodriguez explained. "The driver went on to the shoulder and bicycle lane of the causeway where they unfortunately struck and killed a cyclist before fleeing the scene."
