2 Bodies Found In JetBlue Plane's Landing Gear At FL Airport
A gate technician found two bodies in the landing gear of a JetBlue airplane during a routine inspection at the Fort Lauderdale airport.
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Two bodies were found in the landing gear of a JetBlue airplane during a routine inspection Monday night at the Fort Lauderdale airport, according to the airlines.
The deceased were found by a gate technician in the landing gear of Flight 1801, which had flown most recently from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, CNN and CBS News reported.
The Airbus A320 landed in Fort Lauderdale around 11 p.m. after departing JFK, CBS News reported.

The identities of the bodies have not been released, and the causes of death are unknown.
"The circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation," JetBlue said in a statement. "This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred."

This came after a body was found in a landing gear's wheel well of a United Airlines plane that departed Chicago's O'Hare Airport and arrived at Hawaii's Kahului Airport on Christmas Eve morning, CBS News reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration told CNN stowaways often frequent the landing gear of an airplane, possibly losing oxygen if they are not crushed in the space.
