1. A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a Brightline train Tuesday morning in North Miami Beach, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred in the area of Northeast 163rd Street and Biscayne Boulevard. No other details have been released. (WPLG Local 10)

2. A Tampa Bay hospital announced its first confirmed case of the new COVID-19 omicron variant on Tuesday. James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital confirmed the case and said the patient is "experiencing mild symptoms and recently returned from international travel." (WESH)
3. Former UM player and coach Mario Cristobal is set to become the head football coach of the Hurricanes, replacing coach Manny Diaz. President Julio Frenk said, "Mario's legacy as a student-athlete at (UM) is well established. And the standard for competitive excellence that he and his teammates helped establish is one to which we continue to aspire.." (Patch Miami)
4. Rabbi Marc Philippe of Temple Emanu-El at 17th Street and Washington said the house of worship was defaced late Saturday night with a swastika. The hateful symbols were discovered on the final day of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. This is the second time this temple has been targeted with hateful messages. (WSVN)
5. Respark Residential has acquired Wynwood Bay apartment building for $67 million. The new owner plans to add amenities to the unit interiors and the common area. Rent ranges from $2,000 to $3,700 per month. (The Real Deal)
