Brightline Train Schedule, Prices For Opening Weekend
With the partial launch of the much-anticipated Brightline train service this weekend, the company website simply wasn't able to keep pace.

CORAL GABLES, FL — With the partial launch of the much-anticipated Brightline train service this weekend, the company website simply wasn't able to keep pace with all of the traffic. Some visitors to gobrighline.com received an apology on Thursday afternoon rather than information about Saturday's planned start of service between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

"We're encountering site traffic delays and minor glitches to your overwhelming excitement to book rides," a message said on the website. "We're working through the kinks. Please check back as things will be running smooth in no time."

By the time the website caught up with demand, all of the weekend trips from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale appeared to be sold out. As of Friday, the trains were again showing availability.
The distinctive yellow trains are scheduled to launch on Saturday with an introductory fare of $10 between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The trip will take about 40 minutes each way. But if you want to splurge, you can pay an extra $5 for an upgraded experience.

Children 12 and under can ride for half price, according to company officials. There is no discount for a round-trip ticket. But 10 percent discounts are available for seniors, active military and veterans.
Brightline is planning an invitation-only launch event for Friday. The company plans to inaugurate service from Miami early this year. Eventually, the train will run between Miami and Orlando International Airport. Construction on the Orlando phase is expected to begin in 2018.
