Here are the top five stories today in Miami:
1. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended four Broward school board members after a grand jury report accused them of "deceit, malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty and incompetence." The report suggested multiple failures by the board to prevent the Parkland shooting. Governor DeSantis has personally appointed the replacement members. (WKMG)
2. El Portal residents are concerned about what they said is excessive herbicide spraying along Miami's Little River. Environmentalists said the river is plagued by nutrient contamination like most of Florida's waters. (Miami New Times)
3. Broward County Sheriff's Office deputy Michael Spencer has been charged with one count of grand theft. Details of the undercover operation that is said to have busted him have not been released at this time. (WSVN)
4. The City of Miami Beach in partnership with Florida Fresh Markets is opening the Lummus Artisanal Market near iconic Ocean Drive on Saturday, September 10. The market will offer residents "unique artwork, handmade accessories, specialty food items and one-of-a-kind crafts." (Miami's Community News)
5. Bodega Taqueria & Tequila has opened in Coconut Grove and also has locations in South Beach, Aventure, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale. A speakeasy is also present in the Coconut Grove location, just like the original. (Time Out Miami)

- Miami-based and Colombian-inspired social gathering place, Amazonica, has opened their latest outpost in the Brickell financial district. "We wanted to expand to Brickell because we believe this neighborhood is the beating heart of Miami," said owner Ammiel Manevich. (Miami's Community News)
- The incomplete Arbor condominium project located at 3034 Oak Avenue in Coconut Grove is the target of a $18.08 million foreclosure lawsuit. The construction loan provider says the terms of a lending agreement were not met. (Subscription: South Florida Business Journal)
- Florida Democrat Charlie Crist will pick Karla Hernández-Mats, the head of Miami-Dade County’s largest teachers union, as his running mate as he seeks to unseat Governor Ron DeSantis. An official announcement is expected today. (Politico)
