Broward Police Officer Must Take Anger Management Class

A Broward cop pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor​ in connection with a December 2018 incident in which he kneed a person in handcuffs.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A Broward County police officer pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor Monday in connection with a December 2018 incident in which he kneed a person who was wearing handcuffs. The sentence was announced by Broward State Attorney Mike Satz.

Officer Sandy Gomez of the Coral Springs Police Department pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to serve a 12-month probation and complete a 13-week anger management training course, according to the Broward State Attorney's Office.

The 29-year-old Gomez was also ordered to pay $645 in court costs. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Broward State Attorney Chris Killoran.
