Coronavirus Cases In FL Surpass 7,000 Mark

Here is the latest total of coronavirus cases for each of Florida's 67 counties as of Wednesday night.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida surpassed 7,000 confirmed coronavirus cases Wednesday night as the state total rose to 7,773 while the number of deaths climbed to 101.

Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties in South Florida account for more than half of the total number of cases. Florida's total included 890 hospitalizations and a positive test rate for the virus of 10.9 percent based on 69,265 tests throughout the state.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday issued an order directing Floridians to remain home unless they are engaged in "essential services" and "essential activities."

With 2,202 cases, Miami-Dade County has the most confirmed cases of any of Florida's 67 counties. Nearby Broward County, which has a much smaller population than Miami-Dade, has 1,348 cases.

Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, has 362 cases. Orange County, which includes Orlando, has 458cases.

Only eight counties were left without any confirmed cases as of Wednesday, down from 15 on Sunday.
