The driver of a red pickup narrowly escaped injury on Sunday afternoon when the truck burst into flames.

MIAMI, FL — The driver of a red pickup narrowly escaped injury on Sunday afternoon when the truck burst into flames. The incident occurred at NW 127 Ave. and State Road 836.
"Upon arrival, firefighters observed the vehicle on fire on the side of the road," explained Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
"They quickly worked on putting the fire out," she said. "The owner of the vehicle was able to get out of the car just in time."

Benitez said that vehicle fires pose difficulty for first responders.
"Car fires are difficult to handle due to the risk of explosion and the toxic fumes emanating from vehicles fires," Benitez explained.
