MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police will be stopping cars Thursday night into Friday morning at a DUI checkpoint.

Detective Det. Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department said that officers will set up the checkpoint at NW 215 Street and 2 Avenue from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Unlike the rolling saturation patrols, DUI checkpoints operate in a fixed location for a set number of hours. Vehicles are pulled over based on a formula that might be as simple as selecting 15 consecutive vehicles after each 10-minute period.
