Here are the top stories in Miami today:

1. Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed a bill to ban critical race theory in classrooms and workplaces. Parents would have the ability to sue if they believe their child is learning about the theory. Consideration for the bill will occur during in the legislative session in January 2022. (WTSP)

2. The Broward County School Board voted unanimously to accept and approve a $25 million settlement agreement for the families of the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. The settlement will be paid in three installments. (WSVN)

3. Charges against one of the men accused of the El Mula banquet hall shooting have been dropped due to a botched confession by detectives. 20-year-old Warneric Bucker was one of three accused of firing into a crowd on Memorial Day weekend. (CBS Miami)

4. Israeli developer Gazit Horizons is requesting approval to increase the size of a proposed apartment building planned across from Brickell City Centre. The developer wants to increase the 90 Southwest 8th Street tower to 52 stories and increase the number of units to 500. The move comes after the company saw strong rent increases at another Brickell apartment building it owns nearby. (The Next Miami)

5. 8 Florida hospitals made the 2021 list of hospitals across the United States that are high-performing when it comes to maternity care. U.S. News evaluated 2019 data submitted by hospitals relating only to uncomplicated pregnancies to make the list. (Patch Florida)
