FL's Best Middle Schools Ranked In New Analysis

FLORIDA — Doral Academy of Technology in Miami-Dade County is the best public middle school in Florida, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation’s best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The researchers analyzed 59,128 middle schools for the report.

The top 25 public middle schools in Florida are:

1. Doral Academy of Technology, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
2. Okaloosa Stemm Center, Okaloosa County School District
3. Pine View School, Sarasota County Schools
4. Bak Middle School of the Arts, The School District of Palm Beach County
5. Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Brevard Public Schools
6. West Shore Junior/Senior High School, Brevard Public Schools
7. Orlando Gifted Academy, Orange County Public Schools
8. Pinecrest Lakes Academy, Lake County Schools
9. Just Arts and Management Charter School, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
10. George Washington Carver Middle School, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
11. Terrace Community Middle School, Hillsborough County Public Schools
12. Archimedean Middle Conservatory, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
13. Jose Marti Mast 6-12 Academy, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
14. Osceola County School for the Arts, Osceola Public Schools
15. A.D. Henderson University School & FAU High School, FAU Lab School

The methodology for the rankings focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, while also accounting for students’ background and their achievements in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were applied to break ties.

The rankings are intended as an evaluation tool to give parents a snapshot of how well schools provide a high-quality education and prepare students for a successful future, LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
