Here are the top five stories today in Miami:
1. Former President Donald Trump plans to apply to build 2,300 units of luxury housing, retail, and commercial space at Trump National Doral in Miami. Although the property is owned by the Trump Organization, Trump made the announcement through his office with his presidential seal on the news release. (Miami Patch)
2. Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Malik McDowell was arrested Monday in Broward County on charges of beating a police officer and public exposure. Deerfield Beach Police said they were responding to a "naked male walking near a school" when an officer approached McDowell and the incident occurred. (WSVN)
3. Miami-Dade County transportation planners want to spend $81.3 million to create a Metromover express service between the current Government Center station and a future Herald Plaza area station. It is part of the county's SMART plan to connect the county. Commissioners approved the spending last week as part of a five-year implementation plan of the People’s Transportation Plan. (Miami Today)
4. Kushner Companies, led by Charles Kushner, Nicole Kushner Meyer, and Laurent Morali, and PTM Partners have closed on the last part in a development site for apartment towers in an Opportunity Zone in Miami’s Edgewater. PTM Partners is an Opportunity Zone-focused real estate development company based in Miami. (The Real Deal)
5. A Miami man was recently scammed after ordering an Uber ride. The driver asked him for his number and PIN and then activated two-factor authentication and changed the account password. Uber is warning riders about potential scam operations underway on the platform. The scammer charged him $6 for a ride he never took as well as a $199 tip that his credit card reversed. (NBC Miami)
