MIAMI, FL — With hurricane preparations underway across the Sunshine State, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday's Florida State University football game will be moved from Jacksonville to Tallahassee. Hurricane Dorian is expected to become a Category 3 with winds from 111 to 129 mph, before hitting it comes ashore, possibly south of Jacksonville on a path toward Orlando.

The governor told reporters that he spoke with FSU President John E. Thrasher before visiting the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

"Given Jacksonville's location, given the uncertainty of this storm, they've looked for ways to figure out how they can accommodate that," DeSantis said. "I think they are going to go forward with the game, but they are not going to do it in Jacksonville. They are going to do it in Tallahassee."

The university confirmed that Saturday's game against Boise State, which was originally scheduled for the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, will now be played at noon on the Seminoles’ home field at Doak Campbell Stadium.

“After consulting with emergency responders, law enforcement and hurricane preparedness teams at the state and local level, moving the game is the best option given the information we have at this time,” said FSU Director of Athletics David Coburn.

Ron DeSantis and our city and county officials for their cooperation in staging a game on such short notice, particularly our local law enforcement agencies.”
