Gas Leak Forces Evacuation Of Sarasota Memorial Office Building
About 30 people, including some patients, were evacuated from an office building belonging to Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
SARASOTA, FL — About 30 people, including some patients, were evacuated from an office building belonging to Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Wednesday. The evacuation was the result of a broken gas main, according to a hospital spokesperson.
"It was not the hospital. It was a small two-story office suite," explained Kim Savage of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
Savage said the building houses the Community Specialty Clinic and some office staff.

"There were only a handful of patients there at the time," she told Patch. "We are rescheduling any appointments for tomorrow. "
Savage said the gas main was later repaired and hospital operations were not affected. A road near the office building was closed to traffic for a time.
