Girl, 10, Killed By Stray Bullet During New Year’s Celebration: Police
A 10-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet fired into the air early New Year's Day in Hialeah, the Miami-Dade Police Department said.

HIALEAH, FL — A 10-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet early Wednesday morning in Miami during New Year’s celebrations, according to a Miami-Dade Police Department news release.
Yaneliz Munguia collapsed just after 1:30 a.m. while celebrating New Year’s Day with family in the area of Palm Avenue and West 3rd Street.
After noticing her collapse, her parents examined her for injuries and found a wound to the back of her head, police said.

Her parents put her in a vehicle and began searching for an area hospital while also calling emergency services.
Hialeah Fire Rescue responded to the area and brought the girl to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation shows that Yaneliz was hit by a stray bullet fired into the air from an unknown location by an unknown subject.
