Gloria And Emilio Estefan Honored By Miami-Dade Schools

Miami's most loved power couple, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, received yet another honor for their work in the community.

MIAMI, FL — Miami's most loved power couple received yet another honor for their work in the community. The Miami-Dade School Board recognized Gloria and Emilio Estefan for their accomplishments and contributions to the global community. The recognition was proposed by Board Member Mari Tere Rojas and approved by the board.

"The Estefans know the importance of giving to the community and have never forgotten their Cuban roots," school officials said. "They founded the Gloria Estefan Foundation aimed at reaching those who struggle outside the safeguards of society by promoting good health, education and cultural development."

The Grammy Award-winning couple recently shared their life story in the Tony-nominated Broadway play, "On Your Feet!"

Gloria Estefan also was recently honored by the Kennedy Center.

"As the most successful crossover performers in Latin music history, Gloria and Emilio are true examples of the best Miami has to offer," school officials added.
