Gloria Estefan Turns Iconic Song Into Coronavirus Anthem: WATCH
Gloria Estefan has turned one of her most iconic songs into a coronavirus anthem for a new generation of fans facing challenging times.

MIAMI, FL — Singer Gloria Estefan has turned one of her most iconic songs into a coronavirus anthem for a new generation of fans who are facing challenging times.
"They say stay home. Please don't go outside. There's no use dying. Each time someone comes within six feet, we feel like crying. Not long ago, we could touch our friends and our relations," Estefan sings to the tune of "Get On Your Feet."
But instead of getting us up and on our feet as the 1989 original intended, Estefan's message in this rendition is to get us to put on our masks.

"Put on your mask when you go out in public. Put on your mask. Help save the world from Covid," she belts. "I know it's true. We are going through this nasty virus. We understand, if we wash our hands, we can survive this. Put on your mask, when you are buying groceries. Put on your mask. It might help our prognosis. Don't stop before it's over. Put on your mask. This hell is far from over. Put on your mask."
The seven-time Grammy Award winning artist and her music, television and film producer husband, Emilio, have a long history of helping out in crises dating back to Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

When the storm left hundreds of thousands of Floridians without homes, the Estefans donated $100,000 for relief efforts and visited Red Cross shelters and a tent city in South Florida.
Estefan said she was asked by infectious diseases professor Dr. Aileen Marty of Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine to help get the message out in the current COVID-19 health emergency.
"She feels it is imperative that we protect the world from us because we don't know who has this thing," Estefan said. "I'm me. I have to do it my way."
