Here are the top stories today in Miami:
1. A Starbucks store in Tallahassee is the latest location to file for unionization. The store joins at least six other locations nationwide that have filed for a union election in the past two weeks. (Next City)
2. A Florida man suing the Transportation Security Administration over mask mandates in airports has made the case climb to the U.S. Supreme Court. The man claims his son is autistic and cannot wear a mask and now wants the Supreme Court to repeal the airline mask mandate altogether. (Fox 13 Tampa)
3. The first installations of the Reefline, a project intended to become a 7-mile underwater snorkel trail and artificial coral reef in Miami Beach, could happen by summer. The project will be funded by grants and private investors including the Miami-based Knight Foundation. (Miami Today)
4. The CDC allowed the mask mandate for cruises to expire on Saturday. It is now up to cruise lines to determine whether or not people on ships must wear a mask. Most cruise lines will keep mask mandates through the end of January. The Omicron variant has disrupted cruise travel in South Florida and at other ports around the state. (NBC Miami)
5. Blake Hall has been promoted to CEO and President of Community Health of South Florida, Inc. A year ago he was promoted to President but is now taking on the overall leadership as CEO. Hall currently serves as Secretary of the Board for the National Association of Community Health Centers and the Chair of Association’s Membership Committee. (Miami's Community News)
