1. The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) on Thursday filed a cease-and-desist order requesting that a judge order Florida to stop withholding funds from school districts that received federal money to cover school board members' salaries. The DOE wrote that Florida violated federal law by reducing state funds based on the receipt by districts of federal fund. (Orlando Weekly)

3. Joel Quenneville resigned as coach of the Florida Panthers on Thursday. He resigned with about 3 years and $15 million remaining on his contract. The resignation comes amid an investigation by the National Hockey League (NHL) into a sexual assault claim going unanswered by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs. (WSVN)

4. South Florida influencer Jayne Rivera is defending posing in front of her father's casket. She says she doesn't understand the backlash online. The influencer with over 300,000 followers on TikTok had her Instagram account shut down for "violating rules" on the platform. (NBC Miami)

5. Florida State Senator Tina Polsky says she has been receiving death threats for speaking out about the Florida Surgeon General refusing to wear a mask in her office. Polsky was diagnosed with breast cancer and is in treatment. (CBS Miami)
