Here are the top stories today in Miami:
1. New York City's Smorgasburg is coming soon to Miami and will feature 60 food vendors, 10 retail vendors, and a bar. The market will be located at 2612 NW Second Ave., near Wynwood Walls. The planned opening date is March 2022 and open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Miami New Times)
2. Police have taken a 16-year-old student into custody at Miramar High School after he brought a loaded handgun to the school campus Friday. No injuries were reported and the school did not go on lockdown. (WSVN)
3. The Florida legislature will consider a proposal that would require Florida professional sports teams, who receive government assistance, to play the U.S. national anthem before every home game. Sports teams that fail to comply would be required to return government funding. The proposal mirrors the Texas Star Spangled Banner Protection Act. (CBS Miami)
4. An increase in the omicron variant in Miami-Dade area has lead to new restrictions at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Patient visitation guidelines will now only allow one healthy visitor per patient, per day. Visits must also now be scheduled in advance. Guests will not be permitted in most cases for outpatient appointments as well. (WSVN)
5. The Florida Poison Information Center in Tampa is warning the public about severe bleeding associated with the use of the synthetic cannabinoid "spice." 35 patients have been hospitalized with severe bleeding after using synthetic marijuana purchased in the Tampa area. (Tampa Patch)
