Miami Dognapper Caught On Surveillance Video: WATCH NOW

Miami police are asking for the public's help in finding a brazen dognapper who took a dog from a fenced-in yard..

MIAMI, FL — Miami police are asking for the public's help in finding a brazen dognapper who took a woman's dog from a fenced-in yard.

Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department said the dognapper could be seen on surveillance video getting out of a black SUV around 7 a.m. on Feb. 26.

"A woman ... gets off and walks to the closed gate where the dog was," Vega said. "Moments later, the suspect is seen walking back to the SUV with the victim’s dog. It appears that the suspect had a leash or rope on the dog ,and guides the dog into the SUV."

Vega told Patch the dog appeared to be a large black mixed breed, possibly a German shepherd mix. The home is located in the 1400 block of NW 29 Street.

The dognapper was described as a white woman between 30 and 55 with long black hair. She was last seen wearing a coral-colored shirt, back leggings, white socks and flip-flops.

The dognapper was traveling in a five-door SUV.
