Miami International Affected By Computer Glitch

The New Year's disruption affected the system used to screen overseas travelers.

MIAMI, FL — Miami International and an undisclosed number of other airports experienced a temporary disruption of the computer processing system that U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents use to screen overseas travelers. The incident occurred on New Year's Day.

"During the disruption, CBP had access to national security-related databases and all travelers were screened according to security standards," the agency reported.

Agency officials added that there was no indication the disruption was "malicious in nature."
