Here are the top stories in Miami today:

1. A 20-year-old man who had recently moved to South Florida from Venezuela has become the victim of a violent armed robbery near his front door. He was robbed on the way to work by two people, beaten and kicked on the ground. The victim's brother says he moved to South Florida in search of a better life and is now afraid to walk to work. 2. Four major transit stations are planned for an East-West rapid transit across Miami-Dade by the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW). Plans are also being introduced to add 70 miles of bicycle infrastructure and over 10 miles of sidewalks and multi-use paths. (Miami Today)

3. New Restaurants: There are a good number of exciting restaurants coming to Miami this fall. New projects include Botanico, Playa, Off Site, Kaia, Sexy Fish, and more. Many will open as soon as October. (Eater Miami)

4. New York Mag has a splashy story up about how Miami "seduced" Silicon Valley to the area and apparently it all started with a tweet. Start-up founders, investors, and media-tycoons relocating in the pandemic have boosted the effort. Blockchain achievements include hosting the world’s largest bitcoin conference, FTX paying $135 million for the naming rights to Miami's NBA arena, and "MiamiCoin." (NY Mag)

5. The minimum wage will rise to $10 an hour from $8.65 an hour on Thursday, the first of six increases that will eventually raise it to $15 an hour in 2026. Over 60 percent of voters approved a constitutional amendment supporting the increase last November. (CBS Miami)
