1. A parking garage in North Miami near Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 126th Street has been closed after being deemed unsafe. Inspectors found visible cracks and structural issues at the garage. (WSVN)
2. Public school enrollment in Broward County is down by thousands of people. In response, 400 Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) teachers and staff members spent the weekend going t0 door-to-door to try and let residents know school is back and that they are doing what they can to make school safe. 3. A dead kitten was found in Miami Beach with a note tied to its corpse that stated feeding kittens is prohibited. The incident is considered animal cruelty, a third-degree felony that is punishable with up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. (Miami New Times)
4. An additional 2,340 people were reported by Florida to have lost their lives to COVID-19 last week, bringing the total death toll in the state past 53,000 as the Delta variant continues to spread. Both cases and deaths are declining, although reported deaths only fell by 138 from the week prior. (WUSF)
5. Pubbelly Sushi has announced a major expansion across South Florida to Boca Raton, Doral, Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines. The first location Pubbelly opened in Miami Beach was back in 2010. The concept is spearheaded by Chef José Mendín who is a 5 time James Beard Award Semi-Finalist. (Ocean Drive)
