MIAMI, FL — Rapper "Kodak Black" pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges that he lied on two Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gun forms to purchase three firearms from a gun dealer.

Black, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno in Miami. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison plus three years of supervised release.

The artist was arrested just before a scheduled concert performance at the Rolling Loud Music Festival at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in May.

"Kapri, on Jan. 25, 2019 and March 1, 2019, completed ATF Form 4473," said federal prosecutors. "On both occasions, Kapri answered 'No' when asked, 'Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony, or any other crime for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year.'"

The rapper pleaded guilty to two counts of knowingly making a false and fictitious written statement in connection with the purchase of firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer.

"Kapri was, in truth and in fact, under indictment for a felony offense," prosecutors said of Black. "On Jan. 25, 2019, Kapri transposed several digits of his social security number and thus was able to pick up three firearms on Feb. 1, 2019."

The three weapons included a 9 mm handgun, a .380-caliber handgun and a semi-automatic Mini Draco weapon. Authorities said one of the guns was found at the scene of a March shooting in Pompano Beach.

Prosecutors said Black was denied a fourth firearm on March 1 when he used his real social security number.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bruce Brown.
