Shakira Reschedules Miami Area Concerts Citing Vocal Cords

The singer cited an injury to her vocal cords for the change to her El Dorado World Tour dates.

MIAMI, FL — Latin superstar Shakira on Wednesday announced she was rescheduling her Miami area concert dates from January to August. The singer cited an injury to her vocal cords for the change. Shakira is now set to perform at the BB&T Center on Aug. 15 and AmericanAirlines Arena on Aug. 16 and 17.

The El Dorado World Tour will travel to Orlando on Aug. 14 before heading to the Miami area. The North American tour begins in Chicago on Aug. 3 and ends in San Jose on Sept. 6. See more Shakira concert dates here.

In a letter posted to social media, Shakira thanked fans for their "immeasurable love and support" as she recovers from her injury.

"There were times when your prayers and messages of affection and ecouragement along with those of my family were the only thing buoying my spirits," she penned. "Though I very much hoped my vocal cords would recover in time to pick the tour back up in January, and after exploring many options to that effect, I have accepted that this is an injury that simply needs more time and care to heal."

Having recently been named the most streamed Latin female on Spotify for 2017, the entertainer said she feels for everyone who planned to attend the earlier dates.

"I am very proud of this show. I feel it's my best yet, since it has a repertoire filled with heartfelt songs and exciting moments of music and dance," according to the letter. "I promise to give you all of me and more from the minute I get on that stage and I am counting the days till showtime."
