The Slamdance Film Festival is coming to Miami Beach in 2020.
MIAMI BEACH, FL — The Slamdance Film Festival is coming to Miami Beach in May 2020. The Miami Beach edition of the festival will highlight the multi-cultural and diverse communities of Florida, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
“We’re proud to have been selected by Slamdance as their next city destination,” said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber in announcing the event on Friday. “By attracting prestigious alumnae and providing resources to produce new work, Slamdance will be instrumental in ensuring our local, talented filmmakers can receive the recognition and reach they deserve.”
The festival will come ashore in Miami Beach following its 26th installment in Park City, Utah. The Miami Beach event will run from May 28 to May 31, 2020.

“Miami Beach is a hot spot for film and television,” explained Matt Kenny, the city's director of tourism and culture. “We have had an immense amount of success in films shooting in this tropical paradise, from 'Bad Boys 3' to 'The Last Resort' and the most recent filming of 'Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.' We’re thrilled Slamdance recognizes the strong success of our local film industry and wants to be a part of the thriving scene.”
The festival will feature an entirely different lineup of films programmed by Slamdance alumni from Miami, Central and South America in addition to leaders from a collection of Miami-based arts and education organizations.
