Small Plane Crashes In Boca Raton Shortly After Takeoff

BOCA RATON, FL — Two people were injured Wednesday when their small plane crashed shortly after taking off from Boca Raton Airport, according to police and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Boca Raton Police said that one person was taken to the hospital and another suffered only a minor injury when the single-engine plane plane crashed.

An FAA spokesperson identified the aircraft as a Piper PA28. The incident happened around 10:32 a.m.

"The pilot was returning to land at the airport when the aircraft crashed near an airport hangar," said the FAA spokesperson, adding that the FAA will conduct an investigation of the crash.

Boca Raton police said that Airport Road between the Cinemark movie theater complex and NW 40th Street would be closed for a time as a result of the crash. Motorists were advised to use an alternate route.
