MIAMI, FL — Acting on a tip, Miami-Dade police have arrested a 25-year-old Miami Gardens man in connection with the hit-and-run death of 58-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez Garcia, who was struck by a Hyundai Elantra while he was crossing the street earlier this month at NW 173 Drive and 47th Avenue.

Twenty-five-year-old Luis Mozas was taken into custody in connection with the May 9 hi-and-run incident that occurred around 11:05 p.m. He later confessed to being the driver who struck Hernandez Garcia, according to Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Colome told Patch that police got a tip that led to Mozas' arrest after handing out flyers around the scene of the hit-and-run incident and requesting the public's help in the case.
