COCONUT GROVE, FL — One person fell off a sailboat Saturday, leaving the unattended vessel to crash into several sailboats near Coconut Grove Dinner Key. The incident happened shortly before 9 a.m., according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

"It was quickly determined there was a person overboard in the water," a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

A Miami-Dade fire rescue boat crew searched the area along with crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, Miami Fire Rescue and several police marine patrols units.

"Soon after the search began, the USCG unit searching located the person treading water, [who] was pulled onto the boat uninjured," said the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson.

"This incident serves as a reminder to always wear Personal Flotation Devices when on the water and to use the vessel's kill switch lanyard," the spokesperson added.
