Valentine's Day 2019: Florida Best State For Singles

MIAMI, FL -- If you're looking for love ahead of Valentine's Day 2019, Florida is the place to be. A new study by personal finance website WalletHub ranked the Sunshine State as the number one state for singles.

"To help unattached Americans improve their chances of finding love, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 28 key indicators of dating friendliness. The data set ranges from share of single adults to movie costs to nightlife options per capita," the website penned.

Florida's top ranking was a combination of the state having the eighth highest percentage of single adults, its 11th best rating for gender balance, 21st best ranking for online dating opportunities, eighth best rating for the percentage of movie theaters per person and top ranking for restaurants per person.

"Besides your looks, personality, interests and employment status, your location can influence your odds of finding a romantic partner," the website said. "Everyone has different priorities when searching for love, but certain places simply make dating easier than others."

Rounding out the top five states for singles were California, Texas, New York and Pennsylvania. The worst states for singles were West Virginia, Arkansas, North Dakota, Wyoming and Kentucky.
