MIAMI, FL — Fire broke out on a yacht moored at Bayside Marketplace Monday morning.

"Miami Fireboat 15 arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the cabin," explained Captain Ignatius Carroll, Jr. of Miami Fire rescue. A number of pricey yachts were moored nearby.

He said the smoke was discovered by the fireboat crew around 8 a.m. at Pier 2.

"As the fireboat approached the marina, they found the 69-foot Sarah Smiles yacht with light smoke coming from the rear," Carroll said. "FB15 requested additional units to respond and began searching the vessel for occupants. The doors were locked and the smoke became heavier."

He said fire crews used cutting tools to enter the yacht and extinguish the blaze.
