Yellow Taxicab Strikes Pedestrian In Miami-Dade And Drives Away

Miami-Dade police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of a yellow taxicab who struck a pedestrian early Tuesday morning.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of a yellow taxicab who struck a pedestrian early Tuesday morning and drove away.

Detective Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department said the incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. at West Dixie Highway and NE 144 Street.

"Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from injuries apparently sustained from being hit by a vehicle," said Cowart. "The vehicle did not stay on scene and the driver did not render aid to the victim."

The pedestrian, who was later identified by police as Jean H. Saint Louis, was taken to an area hospital in serious condition by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Cowart said police do not know which taxi company was involved in the incident, if any. The pedestrian was struck as he attempted to cross West Dixie Highway.

The taxi was heading south on West Dixie Highway. Police believe the taxicab is a yellow, Ford, Crown Victoria with a yellow bumper in front and a black bumper in the rear.

"The subject vehicle may have front-end damage, front windshield damage and missing a rear view mirror," according to Cowart.
