Hadassah Donates to Salvation Army Shelter

Contributed by Roberta Karp

Hadassah is a wonderful organization whose only purpose is to HELP wherever it is needed. Besides working for the two Hospitals in Israel and our residential camps for abused children, our members volunteer in local hospitals and hospices, they teach read write programs in the schools, they help get out the vote, (while maintaining a neutral stance) they educate women on issues important to them and a myriad of other things.

Every year we have a Mitzvah Day ( a day of service) and for the third year, the Pasco Chapter of Hadassah presented their Mitzvah Day Project donation to the Salvation Army's Domestic Violence Shelter, at their yearly Hanukkah party. Members either hand made or purchased items on the shelter's wish list and presented the items to Joan Arena, Florida-certified Domestic Violence Advocate. Ms. Arena educated the group about the shelter and the great work it is doing for the Pasco community.

The first picture on the left shows Joan Arena (in black) her assistant is next to her and Joan Levinson, the co-president of the chapter is holding the mike. There were boxes of new clothes, toys, electronics and personal grooming items on and under the table, which assured all the residents of the Shelter a Merry Xmas.
