Anclote High Bells May Ring Later Next Year

A proposal to start classes later at Anclote High School next year goes before the board Tuesday.

HOLIDAY, FL — Students at Anclote High School may get to sleep in a little later next school year if a proposal that goes before the Pasco County School Board Tuesday gets a green light.

The board is being asked to change Anclote’s start time from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. as part of the proposed bell time schedule put together by the district’s transportation department. Anclote students would end their days at 2:55 p.m. if the request is approved.

The change at Anclote was requested by school leadership to coincide with the opening of the magnet Cambridge program, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Anclote students aren’t the only ones who might need to set different alarm times next year. Students at Rushe Middle School in Land O’ Lakes are also likely to see an adjustment to their bell schedule. In their case, however, school will start earlier rather than later.
