FL Boaters Rescued After River Crash
Two boaters were rescued after they crashed into a dayboard on Crystal River on Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL — Two boaters were rescued by Tuesday after their vessel crashed into a dayboard on Crystal River, according to a U.S. Coast Guard news release.
A Coast Guard Station Yankeetown boat crew brought the boaters to emergency medical services awaiting them at Pete’s Pier.
A good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg just after noon to say they saw the boaters on a vessel that seemed to be taking on water.

“We encourage all boaters to maintain a safe distance between their vessels at all times,” Petty Officer 2nd Class Kassidy Wayland, an operations specialist assigned to Sector St. Petersburg., said “In the event of a narrowing navigable channel or large concentration of vessels please reduce your speed and remain vigilant.”

Coast Guard watchstanders are also alerting boaters about the lack of a dayboard navigational sign at Crystal River marker 19.
