FL Patrol Searches For Hit-And-Run Driver With Fake License Plate
Authorities are searching for the driver who crashed a speeding Mercedes sedan and ran from the scene. The car had a fake license plate.

BROOKSVILLE, FL — Authorities are searching for the driver who crashed a speeding Mercedes C Class sedan in Hernando County and ran from the scene.
The crash happened about 5 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound SR-50. Near the intersection of US-98, the driver lost control and the vehicle went off the road, struck a state highway sign and fence, and then hit several trees before stopping, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Following the crash, the unknown driver ran away, leaving behind the vehicle with a fake California license plate that reads "RUNFST."
