PORT RICHEY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Tuesday morning crash that left a 28-year-old Port Richey man dead.

According to the patrol, Davin Dane Hackbarth was heading eastbound in the center lane of State Road 52 around 6:10 a.m. June 13. Hackbarth was approaching the intersection of Alpine Parkway in a Ford Taurus, a highway patrol report said.

At that time, a Seaside Sanitation garbage truck was heading westbound in the inside turn lane of State Road 52, also nearing the Alpine Parkway intersection. Troopers say the garbage truck’s driver, Douglas Amaya, 47, of Port Richey, performed a U-turn. When he did, his garbage truck went into the path of Hackbarth’s Ford, the report said.
