Man Bites Infant
Matthew Barbosa was charged with child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery.

A New Port Richey man has been accused of attacking a woman and biting an infant.
Matthew Barbosa, 21, got into an argument Sunday with a woman, according to the New Port Richey Police Department. He placed his hands on her throat and pushed her backward, according to an arrest report.
Barbosa then picked up a knife “and threatened that if he was going to jail, he would give her good reason to call the police,” according to the report.

He then bit a 5-month-old infant on the cheek, leaving a dark bruise, according to the arrest report.
The woman had bruises on her neck, according to the arrest report.

Barbosa, of 4931 Cherry Court, was arrested Sunday and charged with child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. He was released from Land O' Lakes jail Monday after making $15,000 bail.
