Man Hit By Car, Robbed of Cash, Cigarettes

A Holiday man faces charges of robbery with a deadly weapon for the Feb. 29 incident in New Port Richey.

A man was struck by a car Wednesday, then robbed by its passenger, according to a Pasco County complaint affidavit.

According to the report, "an unknown driver struck the victim with the front of the vehicle," which knocked the man to the ground, near the intersection of Beach Street and Gulf Drive in New Port Richey. The car had followed the man from the area of Gulf High School, the report stated.

The passenger, Stephen James Naples, 18, of Holiday got out of the car and took $140 and a pack of Newport cigarettes from the man's back pockets while he was on the ground, the report stated.

Naples and the unknown driver then fled the scene in "an unknown direction of travel," according to the report. The man was able to identify Naples because they "went to high school together," the report stated.

The man suffered moderate injuries, according to the report.

Naples was arrested by New Port Richey police and charged with robbery with a deadly weapon. He remains in the Land O' Lakes jail on $50,000 bond.
