With wind chills expected to drop to near freezing Thursday morning, Pasco County has announced the opening of its shelters.
PASCO COUNTY, FL — As forecasters at the National Weather Service predict wind chills in Pasco County to drop temperatures to near-freezing Thursday morning, officials have announced the opening of cold weather shelters.
According to Pasco County, its shelters will open Wednesday night, March 15 to provide people a warm place to stay. The anticipated low temperatures “and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time,” an email from the county said. “Children, the elderly, and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them.”
The county’s shelters will open at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 and close at 7 a.m. Thursday. Shelter information is as follows:
