Rescue Group Seeks Donations for Treatment of Neglected Dog

Rugaz Rescue is looking for help paying for medical care for "one of the worst cases of starvation," founder's seen.

A nonprofit that rescues and puts up for adoption “bully breed” dogs is seeking donations to help fund medical care for a dog that suffered neglect.

When Gwendolyn the dog arrived at Rugaz Rescue, a Tampa Bay area organization with a New Port Richey P.O. Box, she was ”suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, painful, swollen paws that are twice the size they should be due to an untreated yeast infection in her paws and ears, a generalized staph infection due to poor living conditions, as well a multitude of intestinal parasites,” according to a press release.

“In addition, a few of her mammories are infected due to being bred constantly which continue to break open when she scratches them.”

Gwendolyn, which means blessed, is now in stable condition at Regency Park Animal Hospital in Port Richey, 7741 Congress Street, Port Richey.

"She is one of the worst starvation cases I've seen, but Gwendolyn just has an incredible spirit," said Devilyn Saunders, Rugaz founder and director, in a press release. "That is what is keeping her going."
