Speeding Driver Dies In Crash After Deputy Chase: FL Highway Patrol

A driver who led Pasco County deputies on a chase died Wednesday night after crashing in Hernando County, FL Highway Patrol said.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL — A speeding driver died late Wednesday night after Pasco County deputies on a chase into Hernando County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

After fleeing from deputies in Pasco County, a 25-year-old Spring Hill man was spotted heading north on Mariner Boulevard around 11:30 p.m.

While speeding and making multiple lane changes, he lost control as he overtook the car in front of him and hit a curb near Lindsay Drive, FHP said.

His car was redirected back into the travel lane, hitting the car in front of him, which rotated and came to a stop along the southbound shoulder.

The speeding driver’s car rotated and hit a concrete retaining wall at the entrance to Seven Hills Plaza, and he was thrown from the vehicle, FHP said. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

He was brought to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The other driver, a 48-year-old Spring Hill woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital.
