SPRING HILL, FL — A woman was arrested Sunday morning for repeatedly stabbing her live-in boyfriend’s dog inside their Spring Hill home, according to a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The HCSO Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call reporting the stabbing just before 11 a.m.

Witnesses told deputies who responded to the Rusk Circle home that Megan Mileskiewicz, 23, had run out the back door.

Deputies found Mileskiewicz hiding behind a tool shed in the backyard, face down on the ground surrounded by shrubbery, the sheriff’s office said. When she refused to comply with verbal commands to crawl out of the bushes, deputies physically removed her from her hiding spot and took her into custody.

Investigators found the dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, with two cuts about 2 to 3 inches long on his back. While the injuries weren’t life-threatening, the wounds were actively bleeding.

Before deputies arrived, Mileskiewicz became angry at the dog without warning, armed herself with a pocketknife and began trying to stab the dog, a witness told deputies.

Mileskiewicz told deputies that the dog was “bothering” her and she became upset and “made a mistake.”

She was charged with animal cruelty and resisting an officer without violence. She was brought to the Hernando County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $3,500.
