Student With Paintball Gun Puts 2 Schools On Alert: Pasco Sheriff

After a teen with a paintball gun was spotted at a high school, two Lutz-area schools were locked down Thursday, the Pasco sheriff said.

LUTZ, FL — Sunlake High School and Charles S. Rushe Middle School were locked down Thursday morning after reports that there might be a weapon on the Sunlake campus, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

A 16-year-old student, who had a paintball gun, ran from the high school before being found by deputies in the Sunlake Boulevard area in Lutz, the sheriff’s office said.

Though there is no threat to either school, deputies will remain in the area Thursday as a precautionary measure.
