Theft From Grandma Led To Granddaughter’s Arrest
A 26-year-old woman is accused of stealing nearly $3,000 from her grandmother.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 26-year-old Brooksville woman faces criminal charges after her New Port Richey grandmother reported fraudulent charges on her credit card to Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies.
According to the sheriff’s office, the case against Jessica Laure Turner began to build when her grandmother noted unusual charges on her Regions Bank card. The agency’s investigation into the alleged crime ended with an April 5 arrest.

After receiving the tip from the victim that her granddaughter might be responsible for the theft, detectives found “video surveillance of some of the fraudulent charges,” an arrest report stated. Detectives say Turner used her grandmother’s card on Feb. 7 to withdraw $600. Other video captured further transactions. “All-in-all, the defendant is responsible for the fraudulent use of $2,793.41 of the victim’s funds,” the report noted.
Turner was already booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Facility on unrelated charges at the time of her arrest in the credit card case. Jail records indicate she was charged with possession of a controlled substance, petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia on April 3.
