2 Accused of Auto Burglary

Two young men were accused of attempted auto burglary and arrested on Monday.

Someone called a New Port Richey Police officer and told him two men were attempting to get into a woman’s car without consent, according to a New Port Richey Police Department arrest report.

Juan Carlos Serra, 20, and Jordan Allen Amos, 18, were spotted by police a short while later. They fit the description of the suspects, according to an arrest report. 

Serra stopped, but Amos fled. Police say he ran through several yards and tried to swim in the river to get away, but was eventually caught on Executive Drive in New Port Richey.

Amos told a police officer he and Serra had been walking in the city and had burglarized several vehicles, according to the arrest report. Amos said he had taken several items. He had a knife on him.

Amos also had two warrants out on him out of Pinellas County.

Serra of 6834 Raunnell Drive in New Port Richey was charged with armed burglary, possession of burglary tools with intent to use and loitering or prowling. He remained in the Land O’ Lakes jail Tuesday in lieu of $16,650 bail. 

Amos of 2449 U.S. 19, Lot 305, in Clearwater was charged with loitering or prowling, obstructing an officer without violence, armed burglary and grand theft. He remained in the Land O’ Lakes Jail Tuesday in lieu of $16,800 bail.
