Voluntary Evacuation Recommended in Flood-prone Areas

The county has opened its shelter in Hudson.

Preparing for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Isaac, Pasco County officials are reccomending a voluntary evacuation for people living in flood-prone areas of the county.

They also opened the Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter at noon today.

The Fasano Shelter is located at 11611 Denton Avenue, Hudson. Folks who have disabilities or lack transportation and need to get to the shelter can call (727) 847-2411.

“There is also potential for storm surge coincidental to high tide Monday at 9:30 a.m.,”  according to a county press release. "The (National Weather Service) expects a surge of 2-5 feet which may push seawater on some coastal roads making them temporarily impassable."
